Methodology
ToiletNearest is a reader for public geographic data. We do not claim to visit every facility. What you see is the best available open record for each coordinate - merged from multiple sources and filtered for usefulness.
OpenStreetMap
Primary features come from OpenStreetMap (ODbL). Tags such as fee, wheelchair, and opening_hours are community-maintained. Bad data should be corrected in OSM so every downstream tool benefits.
Government open data
Where municipalities publish toilet registers (for example parts of the UK and Australia), we merge those points after normalising coordinates and deduplicating against OSM nodes.
Indexed toilet pages
Individual facility pages may be indexed by search engines only when an OSM record includes a usable address, coordinates, and several verified amenity tags - reducing thin URLs.
